disguise

"Every story is about an achievement, otherwise there's no story. The poor use every kind of ruse but no disguise. The rich are usually disguised until they die. One of their most common disguises is Success."

What astonishes me about Romney is how often and blatantly he lies. When I was a teenager, in the days before the Newt Gingrich playbook for politicking, politicians attacked their opponents, but they did so far less nastily, and they weren't so capable of looking a reporter or live audience or TV camera in the eye and just making up stories about those they were trying to defeat. It makes me wonder if his problem with the truth is downright pathological. Or does he feel so "successful"--or, rather, ENTITLED?--that in this era, when such a large portion of a politician's career is preserved on video, he truly believes that no one will ever be able to catch him at it?
